Canadian deep geological repository

repository Canada planned

Canadian deep geological repository is a repository facility operated by Nuclear Waste Management Organization in Canada. Its capacity is not publicly disclosed.

A site was selected in November 2024 — the Township of Ignace and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation in Ontario — after a voluntary, consent-based siting process that ran for fifteen years. That process, rather than the geology, is what other countries now study, because repository siting has failed politically far more often than it has succeeded.
