Wolsong LILW Disposal Center, Gyeongju

Capacity
800,000drums

Wolsong LILW Disposal Center, Gyeongju is a repository facility operated by Korea Radioactive Waste Agency in South Korea. It has a capacity of 800,000 drums as of 2023.

South Korea's only disposal site, chosen in 2005 after a referendum in which Gyeongju volunteered, which followed nearly twenty years of failed siting attempts elsewhere. Rock silos took the first waste in 2015; a shallow land phase was completed in 2023. It takes low and intermediate level waste only, and Korea has no route for its spent fuel.
