Nuclear power in Brazil
nuclearchain.net/countries/brazil/ · data: Global Energy Monitor (GNPT, August 2026), CC BY 4.0 · printed from the live page
Brazil operates 2 nuclear power reactors across 1 site, with 2.0 GW of gross capacity. A further 1 unit is under construction, adding 1.4 GW.
Operating fleet by type: PWR (2). Principal operator: Eletrobras Eletronuclear.
The National Energy Plan 2055, approved in September 2026, projects that up to 14 GW of nuclear capacity, including small modular reactors, could become viable. As of July 2026 the energy policy council had taken no decision on completing the Angra 3 unit. Policy position as read on 2026-11-03: World Nuclear Association, Nuclear Power in Brazil (page dated 2026-10-23).

Fuel supply exposure
The fuel families Brazil's operating reactors take, and the fabricators our sources document as able to make each. This is capability, not contracts: it does not say who actually supplies a given plant.
| Fuel family | Units | GW gross | Documented fabricators | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PWR (square-lattice) fuel | 2 | 2.0 | Westinghouse Electric Company, Framatome, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel, China National Nuclear Corporation, ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries |
